Engineering Services for Buildings

Suffolk Skills Show

For the fourth year running, Bower Fuller was a participant at the 2018 Suffolk Skills Show. The event at Trinity Park in Ipswich had over 4,500 students from Suffolk secondary schools visiting throughout the day. As an employer, the show provides a unique opportunity to showcase our business and industry to a large number of local young people, meeting and shaping the employees of the future.

This year, there was a large marquee set aside for “Construction and the Built Environment” with several consultants and contractors in attendance. Bower Fuller had both a technical area covering the design and project management of mechanical and electrical contracting and an interactive experience for all the students to “have a go” including a fun strength test for glanding a cable, wiring a wall socket and building a pipefitting man. Through discussions and hands on experience, we hoped to show the young learners that the construction sector is a diverse and rewarding career option. Every student who “had a go” was awarded with a Bower Fuller goodie bag – we got through over 150 of these!

Well done to all those who took part, and perhaps we have provided some encouragement and inspiration to a few to consider building services as a possible career choice!
