Engineering Services for Buildings

 

William Bellamy Infants & Junior School, Dagenham

 


The project involved the expansion of the existing school to form new nursery facilities nursery, expansion of educational space for the Junior School and an ARP Unit, all completed whilst the school was fully occupied.

The buildings provide a separate Nursery with open plan activity areas and welfare facilities, a separate classroom and new administration block for the school incorporating 5 No. classrooms and an ARP building modelled inside the existing school by refurbishing the existing structure.

Mechanically, the services include new boiler plant serving underfloor heating and domestic services, ventilation, drainage, sanitaryware and modifications to the existing boiler room which was extended to serve the new administration building.

The control system was upgraded to a new BMS system with graphics linked to the existing control system.

Electrical services include new lighting and power services, Fire, Security, CCTV, Access & Data systems extensions to facilitate the new areas. A 12kWp Photovoltaic system was also installed to provide a renewable source of power for part of the school.

The project also consisted of an upgrade to the electrical mains infrastructure and panel-board over two weekends to avoid disruption to the operational needs of the school during the week
