Wellcome Genome Campus EBI Building AHU Refurbishment
Following our success in securing a place on the Wellcome Genome Campus Framework we were engaged to enhance the ventilation plant within the EBI East Wing Building. In addition to delivering the M&E services, we also acted as the principal contractor.
The project presented logistical challenges due to limited space and restricted access to the plant rooms, all while the building remained occupied throughout the intensive six-week programme.
The primary scope of work involved upgrading key components of the supply and extract air handling units, including fan motors, coils, and filters to elevate performance and ensure future readiness when user numbers are increased and when lower-grade heat sources such as air source heat pumps are introduced.
Additionally, we implemented general efficiency improvements such as rerouting existing exhaust ducts, resizing sections of internal ductwork to accommodate higher occupancy, installing new motors with associated controls, and a comprehensive rebalancing of the system.
