Sybil Andrews Academy, Phase 3 & 4
The final two phases mark the completion of the new build Sybil Andrews Academy and sports complex in Bury St Edmunds.
We have been involved in the construction of all phases which began back in 2016. The site has a centralised biomass boiler plant which was sized as part of the master plan for all four phases. The original LTHW heating mains left in situ for the two new blocks on phase 3 and 4 was unearthed and extended along with the cold water main provision.
Sybil Andrews phase 3 consisted of a new double-storey teaching block number 2 and various alterations to the existing heart block building to balance the different types of teaching and specialist spaces across the site as it organically expanded. Phase 4 created a third single storey teaching block and further heart block teaching space alterations.
Sybil Andrews Academy was originally located in what was St James Middle School, in Bury St Edmunds. By moving to Skyliner Way on the edge of town a purpose built state of art university style campus and leisure facility has been created to serve the growing community for the years ahead.
