Engineering Services for Buildings

Skyliner Sports Centre

Skyliner Sports Centre in Bury St Edmunds is managed by Abbeycroft Leisure. It is a new facility on the Moreton Hall school complex (now known as Sybil Andrews Academy). It is open to both the public as well as the high school students and staff.

The facility boasts a fully equipped gym, dance studio, main hall and changing areas.

Bower Fuller was entrusted to provide the complete mechanical and electrical services as a follow on package to the new build 900 pupil Sybil Andrews secondary school.

The services consisted of gas fired air conditioning to the gym and dance studio, mechanical ventilation to the changing area, and natural ventilation to the hall and domestic services to the changing areas.

The heating is provided via the central biomass boiler plant, which was installed as part of the secondary school phase. This in turn serves radiant panels in the hall together with fan convectors in the changing areas and a series of radiators in the circulation spaces. All of the mechanical services report back via a central BMS for the entire Moreton Hall site.

The electrical installation provides the necessary power for the services including LED lighting to all areas including the sports hall. The building also has a full fire alarm and security system installed. As the sports hall is part of the Moreton Hall school complex, the external lighting has been aesthetically integrated to provide a seamless installation.
