Shenley Road Community Centre, Borehamwood

 

 

 

 


This multi-purpose development comprises a new library, museum and community centre in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

The contract for the Mechanical & Electrical services was let on a design & build basis.

The M&E services included a VRF system to the library, two separate ventilation systems, sprinkler installation, new main LV distribution, lighting, small power and fire alarm, with the community space benefiting from underfloor heating.

Full audio visual systems were installed in the library and community hall.

To achieve the required CO2 reduction, the community space is naturally ventilated via 22 meter long louvres, controlled via CO2 and temperature monitoring.

The lighting system comprises high efficiency LED panels, controlled via both absence and presence detection.

32 No. roof mounted PV panels provides renewable energy.

Local school children buried a time capsule beneath the building; the contents of which included the local newspaper and a raspberry pi computer with a message of greeting.
