Camulos Academy is a new build primary school, created to serve the new housing development on the old Colchester hospital site.

The 420 pupil primary school was called Camulos Academy by the sponsor to reflect the town’s Roman heritage.

This two storey primary school includes 14 classrooms, as well as two school halls and staff facilities.

As the school is located close to the busy A12 trunk road, the classbases have been mechanically ventilated using a central air handling unit and runs of ductwork serving each space. Heating is via an underfloor wet system, with all controls via a central BMS system. Services also included new domestic water, drainage and sanitaryware.
