We were employed to develop the design and install the new mechanical and electrical services on a refurbishment project for Hyundai and Nissan car showrooms in Basildon. The project was fast track in nature across two sites, delivered over a 4 month duration.

Following an extensive survey we modified and extended the existing systems whilst keeping the workshops completely operational during each phase of the remodelling.

A new main electrical panel board was integrated into the existing electrical infrastructure to supply both the existing and new sub-distribution boards. This was carried out in close co-ordination with the client to avoid any impact to live areas. The showroom now features bespoke lighting schemes consisting of lighting tracks to public areas with multi-directional spot-lights. Recessed and surface downlighters have also been installed to the office and WC areas. New floor boxes have been introduced to supplement the existing arrangements, providing additional power/data services across the floor plan where the vehicles are on show.

The scheme benefits from a VRF air conditioning system to the showrooms and offices with roof mounted condensers, all controlled from one central control panel. A large crane was required over a weekend to remove the existing ac equipment condensers and replace with new. The location was challenging as the plant spaces are in middle of the main showroom roof which is surrounded by other ancillary buildings.

Internally, the indoor AC units are exposed and colour finished. Ventilation is provided by means of a heat recovery unit and extract fans, ducted to the ceiling and wall mounted grilles. Replacement of sanitaryware with local modifications to the domestic services and a new domestic hot water cylinder has also been incorporated.
