Engineering Services for Buildings

Fair Havens Hospice, Southend

Bower Fuller worked in partnership with Barnes Construction to carry out the full design and build of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services associated with a new state or the art development for Fair Havens Hospice in Southend-On-Sea, Essex.

The mechanical package comprised new ventilation, chilled water being provided by active chilled beams, LTHW systems via a combination of radiators and ceiling mounted radiant panels, new medical gases, domestic water and drainage systems.

The electrical provision included new lighting, small power, fire alarms, security, nurse call systems and access control.

To enable the building to pass the SBEM calculations, a new 45kW roof mounted photovoltaic system was installed on the roof.

The new building delivers excellent amenities including 16 bedrooms, day therapy facilities, counselling and support rooms, and a physiotherapy gym.
