CUH Addenbrookes, Clinic 9 Enabling

We were appointed by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) to carry out alterations to Clinic 9 to enable the continuation of patient services whilst renovation works are undertaken in the surrounding spaces. We undertook the safe removal/disposal of existing furniture, fixed equipment and flooring. We then installed partition walling, flooring, window screening, plumbing and electrics, shelves/cupboards and secure pharmaceutical cabinets, digital code locks to fire doors, and final decorations, all to meet the high compliance and robust hygiene control requirements of the Trust.

This project involved a short lead in period and accommodated numerous end user changes within a very tight programme and no disturbances to the staff or public who were active in the vicinity of the working areas. As Principal Contractor, we planned routes for operatives’ ingress and egress as well as managed a detailed logistic plan for material movement and removals in a manner to comply with the unique health, safety and hygiene requirements of an active ward in a medical environment.

This is the third consecutive enabling project direct for the Trust that we have undertaken recently. Bower Fuller has been involved continuously at Addenbrookes for more than a decade as a “Preferred M+E Contractor,” having delivered numerous major refurbishment and new build schemes over the years directly for the Trust or through main contractors.
