Ben’s Yard, Ely
Situated within the scenic Stuntney Estate in Cambridgeshire, Ben’s Yard is more than just a shopping destination – it also offers outdoor spaces featuring woodland trails, fenland meadows, and wildflower fields at the heart of the estate. This artisan retail village also includes a dedicated children’s playground, a fairground, and a variety of dining options. The retail development consists of two blocks housing 12 lettable units, public toilets and a first floor office for the client.
Our scope of work encompassed the core infrastructure and comprised the primary power supply, mains water connections with individual meters for each unit, and a central fire alarm system. Each tenant is responsible for the internal fit-out of their respective units.
In the 1st floor office area, we installed lighting, power, data, fire alarm, heating, and mechanical services for the toilets and kitchen, including ventilation and air conditioning. Within the plant room there is a new 1600A main LV switch panel, with a generator connection point providing power to the retail units and local distribution boards which feed the office area and back of house landlord’s areas. Externally, individual distribution boards supply power for events, the play area and carpark lighting.
