Addenbrookes Hospital, Thrombectomy Data Room/Office
As part of an ongoing development of the Thrombectomy department, we were appointed to refurbish an existing internal data room in the middle of the Addenbrookes Hospital site. The works involved splitting the space into 2 rooms – a smaller data room and a new office space for up to 6 people, whilst keeping the data room up and running.
The project presented unique challenges including keeping the data cabinets live, dealing with the fire strategy for the area and the requirements for the routing of new ductwork and introducing combined fire smoke dampers with associated controls. We had several runs of existing services feeding areas outside of the project boundaries. In addition, modifications were required to the level above the project to enable the mechanical and electrical infrastructure to be installed. Close coordination and careful planning were essential with the Trust and other stakeholders to keep services live and manage the severe spatial constraints and congestion within the ceiling voids where the majority of new service routes were located. The installations revolved around working within occupied areas whilst minimising any interruptions to the hospital’s daily activities.
