Addenbrookes Hospital, Major Trauma Centre

This project involved the refurbishment of part of the Accident and Emergency Department to facilitate the formation of a new Major Trauma Centre.

Open communication at all levels with the project team of LSI, AECOM, ISG and the Trust was vital to ensure the scheme was completed successfully in a multiple phased manner. Working within the operational A&E Department necessitated careful planning and management to ensure minimal disruption to their daily routines.

Electrically, much of the work involved the expansion of existing systems such as the BMS, Access Control, Fire Alarm, and IT to incorporate the new trauma facilities. New systems also included an uninterruptable power supply, bedhead trunking, nurse call, new lighting and emergency lighting.

Mechanically, the new areas required a new domestic hot and cold water supply, mechanical ventilation, air conditioning, heating system and the extension of the medical gas supplies.
