Engineering Services for Buildings

73-77 Penrhyn Road, Kingston

Bower Fuller has completed its second new build student accommodation programme on Penrhyn Road, Kingston Upon Thames to serve the residential requirements of Kingston University.

The overall scheme comprised a new build main block providing a combination of 90 No. cluster bedrooms and studio bedrooms, along with common facilities and kitchens.  Our scope also involved the refurbishment of an adjacent building to provide another 14 No. bedrooms.

Working alongside CKC Design and Build, we were contracted to carry out the complete mechanical installation package. This included a new LTHW heating installation, domestic services, ventilation and drainage systems, together with the connection of the bathroom pods which were provided by the Main Contractor.

As part of the renewable energy strategy for the facility, a 40kW thermal/20kW electric CHP unit was installed, which acts as lead boiler and works alongside the other two gas fired boilers.
