Engineering Services for Buildings

66 Shoe Lane, London

We have continued our relationship with ISG Construction, by completing the mechanical shell and core plus partial fit out of 66 Shoe Lane, London.

The project was carried out on a design and build basis to refurbish and extend the basement, ground to 9th floor, the roof, along with the full CAT A fit out of the 2nd to 5th floors and the fit out of all the toilet cores.

The mechanical package comprised the new roof plant areas with 4 No. main air handling units providing 22m3/s of fresh and extract air, 3 No. main chillers delivering 1.6Mw of chiller power and 3 No. boilers producing 1.3Mw of heating. All the main plant had to be installed within the existing structure with space at a premium, therefore the roof areas were fully BIM modelled to benefit coordination and prefabricated off site.

On the open plan floors, over 160 No. fan coil units were installed to provide conditioned air to the spaces along with associated fresh air and extract ductwork. The secondary ductwork boasts a combination of concealed ductwork, along with exposed, internally insulated and painted flat oval ductwork. Again, all the new services had to be carefully co-ordinated to fit within the existing structure, whilst maintaining the requisite overall 2.7m ceiling height.

Our other main elements of work involved the fit out of over 130 No. WC’s, 28 No. showers, full sprinkler system including new tanks and diesel and electric pumps, basement smoke extract system, dry risers, internal rainwater installation and basement domestic water plant.
