Project Win – Mile End Road Temporary Housing Units

Working with main contractor Thomas Sinden this project involves the conversion of an existing 1984 office building into 15nr self-contained temporary housing units for use over a five year period in Tower Hamlets, London. This site was once the home of Essex House, the home and workshops of Charles Robert Ashbee, a leading light in the Arts and Crafts movement where he made metal work and jewellery. In the 1930’s the site was redeveloped into an art deco Odeon cinema before being replaced in the mid 80’s with the present building which strives to emulate an art deco design.
