Addenbrookes provides acute neurosurgical services to patients across East Anglia and neighbouring counties, serving a catchment population of around 2.3 million people. The NCCU cares for patients with acute brain injuries of any cause, as well as those who have suffered major trauma – up to 800 people each year in this region alone, including incidents such a serious road traffic collision. We are very pleased with the work completed on site alongside the wider team in delivering this new critical care facility. Despite a number of unforeseen challenges, the team has remained highly driven and committed, developing engineering solutions that successfully addressed the complex spatial constraints within exceptionally congested spaces. A fantastic effort from everyone involved.
