The Bridge School in Ipswich is a wonderful facility which helps pupils thrive, to achieve the very best they can and to be happy. The pupils are challenged via a personalised curriculum to achieve their full potential socially, academically, emotionally and vocationally. Every pupil is valued. Their unique abilities are celebrated and every achievement is recognised. The aim is to help them graduate and go on to be as independent as possible and live safe, fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
Having completed phase 1 of the development a few years ago, we were very proud to be appointed by main contractor Morgan Sindall to carry out the mechanical and electrical services for the second and final phase.
However, things were not easy for all as our first fix works had just started on site when we were all hit by the pandemic and the first government lockdown. Nevertheless, we were very quickly able to develop new and safe working arrangements and a coordinated approach with the main contractor and other trades to enable the contractual end date to be met in time for the start of new academic year. The project involved extending the existing single storey building to create a number of new classroom facilities, hydrotherapy pool, and enhancements to the main hall and kitchen areas. We have now commenced the final section of the scheme to provide new landscaping and reception/offices for the school. This will bring a major redevelopment of the site to an end in the new year.
