Engineering Services for Buildings

A career in the building services industry?

It’s never too early to think about your career – nearly 5,000 year 7 to year 12 students from across Suffolk attended the third Suffolk Skills Show held at Trinity Park in Ipswich. For the second year running, Bower Fuller took a team of 7 employees along to the event to give an insight into what some, (not us), fondly label “the dark art” of mechanical and electrical building services. Our stand was very well attended by a constant flow of eager and inquisitive students. Our “have a go sessions” prove to be popular. This involved working with different types of pipework and fittings, how to wire a socket and light on a wall and then on to the CAD machine to draw the socket and view a full 3D model of a fully serviced building. Each student who displayed a real positive interest was awarded a Bower Fuller goodie bag and details of our apprenticeship scheme and management trainee programmes. Over 100 bags were handed out which demonstrates a decent level of interest from the students in our industry and business. Our team engaged in lots of conversations with not only pupils, but also teachers and career advisors in our efforts to raise the profile of the construction industry.
