Turner Diagnostic Centre, Colchester Hospital

 


The project involved a new diagnostic centre for Alliance Medical on a design and build basis, working in partnership with principal contractor R G Carter.

The building provides facilities for 2 No. MRI scanners, PET-CT scanner and spec/gamma scanners with associated treatment rooms, consulting rooms and welfare.

Services included specialist cooling plant for the MRI machine, heat recovery ventilation via central plant on the roof, VRF and split heat pumps, medical gases, domestic services and drainage.

A new HV transformer and main LV panel was installed, complete with backup generator, UPS and IPS systems.

Full LED lighting is provided with intelligent control system including head end P.C.

Specialist systems include nurse call, data/voice and fire alarm, as well as full security systems, CCTV, intruder, intercoms and access control.

A BMS system controls the services installation, smoke/fire dampers, mechanical plant and interfaces with the lighting controls.
