Engineering Services for Buildings

Culford School, Library

Culford is an independent boarding and day school near Bury St Edmunds. In collaboration with Main Contractor Seamans, we built a new library and resource centre to complement the existing excellent facilities at Culford. It is seen as an iconic addition which now forms the academic heart of the school and provides pupils with a new and inspiring space to come together, learn and study. The building provides a large open space supported by glulam beams with separate teaching space under the mezzanine floor and a quiet area above including a high specification kitchenette and flexible lecture theatre. Mechanically, the services include new boiler plant serving underfloor heating and domestic services, ventilation, drainage, sanitary ware and BMS controls for high and low level louvres. Electrical services comprise new LED lighting and power consisting of wall and floor sockets, fire alarm system, lighting protection, access and data systems and new switchgear to facilitate the new areas. A new outside lighting system was installed including flush, surface and bollards in LED.
