Engineering Services for Buildings

Colville Primary School

This project delivered a large, bright, eye-catching extension consisting of 6 classrooms, a multi-space area, hall and preschool facility. This increased the capacity of the school from 220 pupils up to around 400 pupils.

Working with the Main Contractor, Morgan Sindall, Bower Fuller was responsible for installing both mechanical and electrical services.

The extension is heated by an underfloor heating system which is supplied by a closed loop ground source heat pump. The domestic hot water systems for both the old building and the extension are supplied by new larger capacity gas boilers. A rainwater harvesting system was installed with a child friendly information board on display in the multi-space area. Energy conserving ventilation for the extension is provided by heat recovery ventilation units.

Electrical services provided by Bower Fuller include general lighting, emergency lighting, LV power and distribution, access control, fire alarms and CCTV.

With its timber construction and numerous sustainable features the building is expected to obtain an excellent BREEAM rating.

As a measure of the success of this project, Bower Fuller were delighted to be awarded a “Perfect Delivery” by Morgan Sindall.
