What a great start to the new year. Bower Fuller is delighted to be working with SDC again on a new development in Cambridge. The National Institute of Agricultural Botany or NIAB, based in Huntingdon Road is building a new “Barn” on their Histon site. The Barn will consist of onion and potato stores, specialised growth rooms and laboratories, along with seed handling and packaging spaces. Bower Fuller will be providing the mechanical & electrical services to the 96 metre long Barn including a new LV supply that will go on to serve further redevelopment of the Histon site.
NIAB is a pioneering plant science organisation at the core of the Cambridge science, technology and university communities. With over 90 years of experience in the agricultural and food sectors, NIAB has an internationally recognised reputation for independence, innovation and integrity. Their traditional activities have always focused on science-led plant variety and seeds characterisation, evaluation, quality control and knowledge transfer. Funding for the charity comes from a range of organisations, including the NIAB Trust, AHDB, BBSRC, DFID, DEFRA LINK, The Food Standards Agency and the European Commission. NIAB has enjoyed Royal support from its foundation and is rightly proud that Her Majesty The Queen is patron.
